Chris Haigh's Epic Choral album

I am always glad if i hear about aspiring amateur, semi-amateur or ex-amateur (aka professional) composers who have proved their talent and skill on the field of trailer music. Chris Haigh is one of them. Starting as amateur now he participates in various blockbuster projects (e.g. movie Devil) and professional libraries like Sonic Symphony and Gothic Storm. (see our previous post about Gothic Storm). Some new music is uploaded on his homepage, which are definitely worth to listen to. Currently he is working on an epic choral album, live strings and choir will be recorded in May by the Liverpool Philharmonic.

Apropos Sonic Symphony. Demos for their newest album, Gothica are up. Chris composed 5 epic, orchestral choral horror tracks for the album. If you check out the orchestral horror demo on the site of SS, his tracks are from 0:56 to the end of the demo.

p.s. There are two more epic albums coming by SS, Eternity and Maximus, both are the kind we like :)

Symphonies of Sonic Intensity!

We haven't been the only ones working diligently on an action packed album of epicness (and I assure you we have been working.....hard.....sort of....).  Sonic Symphony has been hard at work, and they have recently released two brand new albums!

Drums From Hell is "a collection of furious, pulse pounding, and powerful drums", containing tracks in the Action, Epic, Rock and Electro-Magnetic categories! A sample is avalible for listening on Sonic Symphony's website! I love percussion, and the samples sound fantastic!

Sonic tools is a disc comprising over 200 sound design elements, including "Trailer risers, twisted textures, massive hits, sci-fi tones, swishes and much more".

In addition, two more albums are coming soon! Gothica will tackle the horror genre, taking listeners "on a gruesome and terrifying journey." After that, Maximus promises to deliver exactly what we at TMN love most: "a huge orchestra, slamming percussion and powerful choir that creates colossal excitement!"

Sonic Symphony & Abaco Music

  • Have you noticed Sonic Symphony has signed with Ravenwood Music? If not then immediately visit their site and listen to Sonic Symphony's first album, Epica. It's worth trying out, as they make a-bit-above-the-average stuff.  Their track Rising Force Remix was recently featured in the ad campaign for "Sherlock Holmes".

  • Abaco Music has recently released a new album, namely Big Screen Promos. Surprisingly this album is not bad; maybe you will find some interesting tracks here, e.g. City of the Dead.

Sonic Symphony: Epica

There's a new music production house in Los Angeles, that makes original music for movie, television, and video game promotional campaigns, called Sonic Symphony.  (at least I think it might be new) I was made aware of it via Alex Pfeffer's website.  Alex Pfeffer arranged, mixed and mastered the 18 epic choral themes and action pieces for the latest release "Epica".  The pieces were all composed by Hanu Khosla and Manu Khosla, and you can listen to a montage of all the tracks on the CD from the music section of their website:

www.sonic-symphony.com

The website is worth checking out on its own.  Their new album called Epica, quoting from the site,

"... [is] an explosive trailer music collection featuring 18 Epic Choral Themes & Action Pieces, masterfully written especially for motion picture, telvision and video game advertising campaigns.  Cues ranging form epic grandeur themes to breathtaking action pieces.  All tracks are arranged in a quintessential trailer music format, gradually increasing in intesity, and tailored to bring a heigtened level of emotion to any visuals.  ....  All cues are also available in a special 'Maximum Loudness Edition' to give the editors that extra loudness and meet the ever growing demand for more volume."

(You can see a .pdf tracklist here)

Sonic-Symphony's next album, Drums From Hell, will focus more on sound design and percussion.

Hanu and Manu Khosla have written cues for Megatrax Music in the past, and you can listen to some of their work at ReverbNation: www.reverbnation.com/hanukhosla

We look forward to hearing some of these cues in trailers!
