How to sell Thor in Japan: use Immediate Music
How do you advertise a movie about an alien warrior named Thor who defends Earth, in Japan?
The same way you do it in the US of course: great music!
This Japanese Thor trailer features Aleksandar Dimitrijevic's "Into the Eternal Twilight" from Immediate Music's Epic Chorale Action 1. It carries most of this trailer, from 1:00 until the end. Check it out below.
Audiomachine had a custom cue in the 2nd US trailer and that trailer has a decidely different, modern, dare I say, "Inception inspired" feel. This trailer relies more on an epic orchestral sound. Which do you prefer?
You don't have to fly to Japan to see this movie though. If you did, there's time to buy plane tickets as you would have to wait until July 1st. It comes out in theaters in the US & Canada on May 6. If you live anywhere else, what are you watching this trailer for? Go see it now!
On a related note, Aleksandar entered a TRON Remix contest.
You can listen to his track sumbission here, and vote for it if you like it! It's pretty rad.
Harry Potter 7 Part 2 : the trailer music
The trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 was just released! It's a trailer fit for the conlusion of the series, with epic music, explosions, and slow motion.
And yes. Voldermort yells 5 times.
The music from 0:18 to 1:08 is John Samuel Hanson's "Lords of the Realm", which he announced on his twitter feed. Does anyone know what music is used for the backend? To my ears it has the sound of another Immediate Music cue, but I shouldn't guess. Regardless, both pieces are pretty awesome.
Check out the action below. What do you think?
More pressing, how do you stop hitting replay?
Skyrim:Dragonborn!
Hoy, Hoy! Last weekend Spike TV hosted VGA Awards where the announcements were importante parts of the show. Certainly the most anticipated one was by Bethesda: the development of the new sequel of The Elder Scroll V: Skyrim is in progress. Check the trailer of Skyrim featuring an epic version of good old Morrowind theme.
audiomachine on TV
Not long after we mentioned audiomachine's latest release, Deus Ex Machina, there's already news of it being used in movie marketing campaigns! This TV spot for True Grit, uses the cue "Kill em All". Watch it below, and listen to the track on audiomachine's Facebook page.
Another cue, "Judge and Jury", from the new release was used in a different True Grit spot. You can watch that trailer here, and audiomachine was kind enough to post it as well for listening.
Finally, "Sands of Time" from Labyrinth was used in a TV Spot for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This cue was also in a Legend of the Gaurdians TV Spot earlier this year. I love this piece personally. I just think it's really enjoyable to listen to even on its own, and you can on audiomachine's FB page. You should also check out the way it was meant to be heard below:
Interestingly enough, Paul Dinletir, now co-owner of audiomachine, wrote the track "Here Comes the King", for X-Ray Dog's Canis Rex II. Recently the track was used in the Dawn Treader theatrical trailer. This track was licensed for the first Chronicles of Narnia film. It's still a great track 5 years later, and hopefully will help lead to a successful opening weekend for the third film in the series.

In Brightest Day In Blackest Night
Hi everyone! Judging by the title any avid comic book fans should know what this is about ^^ The live action Green Lantern trailer staring Ryan Reynolds was released just over a week ago, and I'm suprised that no one has posted anything about this because the music featured in this trailer is incredible!
Originally composed over at Methodic Doubt Music with Machine Vandals, Lonely Dusk was adapted and modified and made twice as epic by adding a choir thanks to the one and only Magic Box Music or Brand X Music if you will. Check out the trailer as it's an incredible piece, and fits the trailer perfectly. I dont think I'll share when the piece starts; I want you to be surprised! :D

New trailer music database?
Hoy, hoy! I've just noticed that TrailerAddict.Com added a new feature to its huge trailer collection. There is a 'Trailer Tracks' box under each trailer which suppose to contain information about the songs played during the trailer. I think TrailerAddict has all the powerfull resources (e.g. trailers) to built a usefull database of trailer musical usage. I'm just wondering it is possible for users to add songs?
Full Tilt: Black, is back in more trailers
I know this news is a bit old for anyone who is keeping up to date with Groove Addict's Full Tilt library Facebook updates, but for anyone that missed it because they've been incapacitated over the past couple weeks (like me), you should check out the two videos that were posted. Music from Michael Nielsen and Kaveh Cohen's highly successful 'Full Tilt: Black' release has been used in two theatrical trailers. The first is the Ninja Assassin trailer, which features the piece "Up From the Ashes".
The second is the theatrical trailer for Jennifer's Body, which features the piece "Shellshock".
You can actually listen to "Shellshock", in all it's glory, uncut, on the Groove Addicts/Full Tilt Facebook fan page, or MySpace page. myspace.com/grooveaddictstrailermusic facebook.com/grooveaddictstrailermusic If you're not a fan, well what are you waiting for? Speaking of the Full Tilt trailer music library, I want the first part of Kaveh Cohen and Michael Nielsen's interview to go live this week. Yep folks. There'll be more than one part.
Small News 090801
Hoy hoy! Some news for today.
- Guys over cracked.com made a list about things trailers should avoid in the future. The fourth thing is to avoid using the same cue again and again. They bring some popular music songs such as Ton Loc's "Wild Thing" as examples. Is this really a problem?
- IFC.com gathered the greatest trailers of all time. You can know some interesting fact from the list like in which trailer was voiceover used at the first time and such.
- Marcello de Francisci's website, Blue Labyrinth, got a new design.
- Yeah, it's still summer.
"The modern-day movie trailer"
Hoy, hoy! A really good and instructive article can be found here about trailers' trustiness.
Consequently, it seems as if movie trailers are not to be trusted. If the music is not to their liking or the images are not appealing, how is an audience to decide if the material is enjoyable?
