5minutes with Jeff Tymoschuk...

An interview with Jeff Tymoschuk, one of the composers of Spirited.

If you could pick three movies, past or present that your tracks could advertise what would they be?

I'm a huge fan of everything Pixar does, the melody for Midnight Food Fight actually popped into my head after finding a mouse in our kitchen, so Ratatouille would be a pretty excellent one.  Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs would be another, it had the nice balance of adventure and comedy, and oddly enough, Rodney Dangerfield's Back To School...

Spirited

The latest release of Fired Earth Music is aiming to fill the space caused by the lack of life-affirming, happy and positive family adventure cues. The solution is here and it is called Spirited. The album  featuring 12 cues which are organised around four themes: Light and Upbeat, Mischief and Mayhem, Epic Adventure, Heartfelt and Grand. "Get ready for spy missions, heroic epics, sweeping grand battles, chaotic food fights and more - all with a positive slant."

The songs were composed by Benson Taylor and Jeff Tymoschuk. Benson Taylor wrote the score of several trailers such as Avatar, Clash of the Titans, Planet of the Apes and famous television series including 30 Rock, Two and a Half Men, CSI. Moreover a memorable moment of his career is that in the past three years his music featuring in the world-famous sport event  Super Bowl.  Jeff Tymoschuk wrote the score of several big titles in Hollywood like Altitude, Below Zero, That One Night. Notable that he composed the music for the video game spin-offs of the James Bond franchise.

CHAPTER 1: Light and Upbeat

Fired Earth Music's new album is finally here!

Fired Earth Music's seventh album, Ultimatum, is finally here! It was composed by the BAFTA award-winning film and video game composer Jesper Kyd, and recorded in Budapest, Hungaria this summer (Trailer Music News attended to the recording session. More information here!). The result is truly breathtaking. You'll probably enjoy a lot tracks such as "Precession", "Aphelion", and "Absolute Magnitude". But shhh, I will say no more and let you discover the album by yourself... Turn the sound up, close your eyes and let the music carry you away!

Here's "Aphelion", featuring Melissa Kaplan :

Ultimatum, like the rest of the Fired Earth Music albums, is available on West One Music's site

TMN reports from Fired Earth Music's recording session

Hoy, hoy! At 13th of July TMN attented to Fired Earth Music's recording session where three upcoming albums were recorded. Read below our experiences.

"An exciting letter arrived in TMN’s mailbox last Thursday from Hannah Vice, Creative Producer of Fired Earth Music. The letter said that three new Trailer Music albums were being recorded in Budapest and that, if we’d like, we could come by and check out the process. Of course we had to! They were staying in Hungary only three days, and the letter arrived at the last minute, but after some quick phone calls and emails, we rushed to organize a meeting for 1pm the next day." News from SoundCloud

Why SoundCloud? It may seem obvious. Since the site has become a very useful tool for artists, who can share and promote their latest compositions, a lot of epic and emotional music was posted there.

Amongst these:

  • an artist I just discovered: de-tune (SoundCloud pseudonym), also known as Dirk Elhert. He is a free lance artist and he has written nice cinematic trailer music. All of them are royalty free tracks. Simply forget the "audio jungle" audio watermark and enjoy!

  • It is highly recommended to explore the demos posted by 8Dio (on the 8Dawn account) even if you're not a composer - you might find some interesting tracks there... ;) Here are a couple of examples. First, the epic percussion bundle contains two tracks that might remind you of some Fired Earth Music tracks. Second example: the choir bundle. You will find beautiful tracks such as "Born in Gold" by Jasper Blunk, "Liberis" by Colin O'Malley, "Origins" by Troels Folmann... The choir bundle was originally done for Tonehammer (Requiem Pro and Liberis libraries), which was merged with 8Dio. Oh, and check this as well - it's kitchen-made. Interesting isn't it?

  • Mark Petrie posted two new tracks: "Dreamland" and "Omega Point". As always, it's Petrie-esque. Aka very good!

Firing up some classical sounds

What do Jane Austin Novels, rainy Parisian streets and international departure lounges have in common? Each of them helped inspire composer Robert Bennett to create Fired Earth Music's upcoming release, Bellitas!

Currently being recorded at the historic Rudolfinum concert hall in the Czech republic, Bellitas will deliver a range of pensive and intelligent drama cues sure to add emotion and weight to any production! If you want to know more about the release, be sure to check out Fired Earth Music's blog!

A Night in Fantazium

I'm sure we're all familiar with this scenario: It's early in the morning, and you've clicked the play button for "Dream Chasers" approximately 500 times. Bleary eyed, you search desperately for more fantastic, magical music, but so far it has all been in vain. Until now!

Fired Earth Music has released their third album, Fantazium! As you might guess from the name, fantasy, adventure and magical fun abound in this album from composer Toby Chu. Featuring twelve enchanted tracks, its a lighthearted and genuinely fun listen! You can listen to all the main mixes on Fired Earth Music's website. It's certainly worth the effort!

Who knows, your dreams tonight might be filled with magical realms and fantasy wonders!

Power of Darkness, Fantazium & Platinum Series 4

  • This month, all the Trailer Music fans are watching in the same direction, and many of you (everyone?) are wondering the same thing: when will PoD be released ?
  • I asked Thomas: "It will not be done until the 16th of march. Genesis should follow shortly."
  • No release date for this one, but it's just a matter of weeks now. Thanks to Thomas for his answer.
  • Fired Earth Music will release Fantazium in April. It will encompass the "Fantasy, Heroic Adventure, Family Fun, Romance, Humor and Mischief" styles.
  • Audiomachine updated their Facebook page with a video of the recording session for Platinum 4 The album is slated for release this spring.
  • EDIT : The video was removed from the page; don't know why.
  • EDIT 2 : Thomas updated his blog with this message : "Guys, although I appreciate the excitement surrounding Power of Darkness, I really don’t understand it :) Keep in mind that this is still not a commercial album and will only be available to our clients. The actual shipping date is 16th of March but that doesn’t mean there will be demos on our site by then. It will not appear in the Extreme online catalogue either, so there’s really nothing to be excited about when it comes down to it :)
    Best,
    Thomas"

Fired Earth Music featured in 'Percy Jackson' international trailer

"Man of Steel" from Fired Earth Music was used in the Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief campaign.  It's a pretty epic track from the album 'Vulcano', composed by Troels Folmann, and it can be heard in the international trailer below (1:04 - end), as well as in a few featurettes.  You can watch the featurettes at Troels Folmann's blog.

Also, be sure to check out the other trailers for music by Full Tilt, Audiomachine, Two Steps From Hell, and Ars Arcana.  Yep, music from 'The Savage Tongue' is still being used in trailers.

(Thanks Hannah for the heads up!)
