Contest, Sycross and more...
Hoy, hoy! Okey, I know, some of this info might not be fresh for some of you, but we thought each on their own doesn't deserve a new post so we waited till we have enough to post it. That typically true at the last one.
- I was wandering on Soundsonline's forum again. If you missed : there is a contest to show your song writting skills and to win
an enormous bar of chochlatea Complete Composers Collection PLAY Edition. In my opinion these are fits into the dynamic, might be trailer music category: Pharaoh's Glory by Jeff Broadbent, Cruor Of Diabolus by Tarek Mansur, The pirate returns by Marco Giardina, Lacrimosa by Rotem Moav, but you should check the rest here. - Ray Li, who is a young, self-taught composer and releasing his debut album Final Horizon, sent us a letter to help him promoting his songs. So click here to listen his music! I think 'Life' is pretty cool.
- Also some 'so-last-year' news: the hompages of APM and Groove Addicts have a new design.
February 2009 at APM
Ordinarily APM published their yield in february. Seemingly they focus on the quantity and not on the quality of music they produce. 17 CDs this month is below average regarding both the quantity and quality. I believe there is nothing interesting for us not even Epic fury 2 by IFM. Unfortunately Epic action & adventure 4,5 by Epic score are not included in this list yet. Maybe the next month. Let us hope.
New albums at APM
Hoy, hoy! As usual at the beginning of each month, APM added some albums to its library. Altough I don't see any featuring choral sound, still there are some worth mentioning.

EndGame released 'Victories'
"Celebrate life's triumphant moments, from quiet strength to grand victories." Music was composed by famous video game composers such as Inon Zur, David Arkenstone, Cris Velasco etc.

One from Bruton Library called 'Ultimate Journeys'. Most of the music was composed dramatic orchestral adventure stlye. I recomend you 'Ridge Runner' track.

Cherry Picked Music released 'Modern Sci-Fi Filmscore'.
"Bloodthirsty, horrifically strong pulses and industrial elements drive this impressive orchestral soundtrack."

Cherry Picked Music released 'American Orchestral'.
"Grand orchestral themes evoking the heroic spirit of America."

Sonoton released 'Documentary Themes and Beds'.
"Serious Action, Drama, News, Sports and Corporate Issues. Full orchestra with rhythm underlays, and versions with orchestra only."
APM's behind the scene
Hoy, hoy! I mentioned earlier that TV & Film Music Conference is a good opportunity to look behind the scene of composing music for films, trailers, videogames. MJM told me APM Music made a lots of interviews on the previous conference. So if there is anything you ever wanted to know about making movie trailers, production music business, scoring music for trailers visit APM's Podcast page. You can find interviews with famous movie composers, music supervisors, trailer music composers, employees of trailer houses etc. It's a gold mine! If I had more time I would gather the informations from the interviews, but I don't have. Maybe later I write more about the interesting ones.
Liquid Library by APM
Hoy, hoy! APM Music announced the lunch of Liquid Cinema. It's a music library for film trailer music and it has been constructed for two years by the leading of the award-winning film composer Jeff Rona. Let's see what the maestro said about his work:
The Liquid Cinema music library has been carefully written and arranged to provide music in shorter sections that move an audience through visuals with a sense of immediacy and musicality; no single track tries to tell the entire story. All too often, music supervisors must carve out and separate a specific musical passage from a longer cue, which is unnecessarily time consuming. LiquidCinema cues are concise and focused, so cues can be easily edited or mixed together to work in a wide range of circumstances. Working with live orchestra, singers, drummers, and instrumentalists, and with world class movie score engineer James T. Hill at the console made our tracks sound simply brilliant.
Liquid Ciname includes 6 albums in these categories:
- Cinematic Apocalypse: Dark thrilling action and tension with live orchestra, choirs, thunderous percussion and more, delivering scores that are exciting, frightening, bold and energetic.
- Cinematic Action & Adventure: Exciting, percussive orchestral and choir scores for super heroes, dark heroes, and villains along with music for chases, global intrigue and more.
- Cinematic Emotions & Drama: Music for emotions from sad to happy, romantic to melancholy, with pieces ranging from orchestral to contemporary rhythms and more. Top pop writers work alongside film composers for a range of style and feeling.
- Cinematic Contemporary Action: Hard-edged modern blend of swaggering synchs, blazing guitars and burning, distorted beats. Attitude and drive pump up the energy and pace.
- Cinematic Horror & Suspense: From live orchestral scores to ambient and frightening soundscapes. Music to thrill, scare, get your heart racing or put you on the edge of your seat. Features a unique set of evolving electronic drones.
- Cinematic Hip-Hop: Dramatic urban beats, inspiring words and emotional instrumentals. Top hip hop producers and film composers have teamed to create authentic grooves for scenes both dark and heroic.
You can hear all of the tracks on APM's site and a sample here!
